So much of what we do at NMJ is centered around love, where did it all begin for you both?

We met during our first year of university. We didn't start going out until after university, but were always close friends and very fond of each other. Lachlan moved down to Melbourne after university for a year and when he moved back to Sydney, asked me if we wanted to hang out and the rest is history. We have been together for 9 years!

Tell us a little bit about your engagement…

We were on a road trip of the Great Ocean Road and our first stop was Kangaroo Island. On this first night we had the most beautiful sunset and were camping in a remote area. On a walk along the beach, we walked up to a headland to watch the sunset and Lachlan got down on one knee! He had quickly decided that night one of our three-week holiday was the perfect opportunity to propose as it was forecasted to rain the next couple of days. It was beautiful, and whilst we FaceTimed our families, we kept it to ourselves for the three weeks. It was so nice to enjoy that special time together.

Andrea, what was your reaction when you saw your engagement ring for the first time?

I LOVED IT! I would have loved any ring I got but deep down I always knew I wanted an NMJ ring. My older sister has an NMJ ring and ever since she got engaged I followed Natalie Marie Jewellery’s Instagram page and have loved all the rings. I had hinted slightly and I am glad he picked up on it!! I was surprised with the Rose Gold but I am so in love with it and now couldn't imagine myself wearing any other rings. 

Tell us about your NMJ rings, what drew you to Natalie Marie for your wedding pieces? 

I just love the simplistic, timeless nature of them - they are just so beautiful. We also love that we are Northern Beaches locals and that NMJ is local!

We chose our wedding bands together, for me it was a tough decision whether to go for the crown or the plain band. I went for something a little different and chose the Reina Crown Ring. Later down the track, I might treat myself to the band to add on!

Lach loved the experience of going in-store to try his ring on, he wanted something simple but timeless and NMJ fit that brief. We love our rings so much!

We feel so honoured to have played a small role in your special day, what were the highlights?

Andrea: There were so many - but the two main highlights were, seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony, it was such a special moment that we both will remember for the rest of our lives. And secondly, the company we were surrounded by was the biggest highlight, being surrounded by our closest family and friends in New Zealand was so much fun, and as it was a destination wedding everyone was so relaxed - it all felt like a holiday and giant party. Our bridal party was the BEST, we just had so much fun the entire time. During the the lead-up, getting ready on the day, and the party itself!

Lachlan: The highlight to me was the excitement building throughout the day. Not knowing what to expect until you were right amongst all of your family and friends, standing in front of them waiting patiently. And then finally seeing Andrea, I was excited, ready, and then pure emotion. At that second, I fell apart! It was something that you cannot explain. Everyone will hopefully go through it one day, but to me, that moment was the highlight - seeing Andrea for the first time. The second highlight was seeing everyone have so much fun and feeling like that was the only place I needed and wanted to be.

Both: We cannot explain how quickly the day flies, but we were so grateful to have had such an amazing photographer, Kate Roberge, and videographer, Luisa Apanui, capture the day so we can continue to relive it.  

At NMJ, at the heart of everything we do is love. Tough question, but tell us, what do you know about love?

Lachlan: I know that it brings with it all different types of emotion. It can make you laugh and cry. I know that everyone loves different things but I know that love to me is Andrea.
