The Stories NMJ Signets Hold | Adam Schofield

We recently had the honour of creating three individual and personalised signets for three incredible fathers so we took the opportunity to find out more about their family life, lessons they’ve learnt and the story that their NMJ signet holds for them.

Here, we chat to Adam Schofield.

Dad to Isobel and Jack, Adam Schofield has been living on the Northern Beaches for “many, many years”. Married to his wife Rebecca since 1992, Adam spent 32 years working in numerous sections within NSW and Federal Police agencies and is currently employed as Operations Manager for Sydney Helicopters. For Adam, we made a signet with a custom engraving of an image close to his heart.

Tell us about your children, what are they like?

We have two great children who we adore immensely. Isobel is 21 and she is the retail manager for Natalie Marie Jewellery. Jack is 18 and recently finished school in 2019. He’s currently working as a trade hand while he decides what he wants to do. We are very proud of both of our children, as we believe they have great natures and respectful personalities.

What has been your favourite age in the parenting journey so far?

That’s quite a hard question to answer as I really enjoyed watching them growing up from babies to young kids however, I really have enjoyed watching them grow up to the ages they are now.

It’s very pleasing to see both Rebecca and my life ideas and traits coming out within their personalities.

What surprised you most about fatherhood?

I always thought that your kids learnt from you, but I am continually learning from them which I love.

Was there anything your father taught you that you have passed down to your own children?

My father always taught me to work hard and respect others. Both these traits I believe our children have also taken on which really pleases me.

How would your child describe you?

I would hope they would say I am a good guy who has worked hard to provide for his family.

What is your favourite thing to do as a family?

I love getting away as a family and spending time together. Not that this has happened as much as I would have liked to, but of late we’ve spent more time together and we have really enjoyed it.

At Natalie Marie Jewellery, we believe that jewellery has the power to tell a story, what story does your signet tell?

The signet tells the story of my Dad, who was such a character, and a real hard worker - which is where I like to think I got my strive for hard work from. We lost him at the end of 2019, and the engraving on the signet was/is his business emblem and is a constant reminder of him that I hope will be in our family for a lifetime.

What is one lesson you hope to teach your children?

Be true, be nice, respect others and work hard.

While Father’s Day isn’t until September here in Australia, the design and completion of each handmade piece at NMJ can take up to four weeks so it’s the perfect time to reach out to us and start creating something significant for the men in your life. Contact us here to begin the conversation.
